New Mexico: Gray Squirrel Poop

Mom says polluting the environment and wildlife ecosystem will haunt us. Unbridled urbanization will haunt us. Photographs of gray squirrel poop will haunt us. The BP oil disaster will haunt us. Because it’s what remains of the wild living things that roam the Earth that will determine the fate of human-idioty. The animals that inhabit this planet are not animals, mom says. They’re healers. They’re the opposite of fast cars & SUVs. In Washington State, the existence of gray squirrels are threatened with road-kill mortality and disease. I was surprised mom knows what ecosystem means. What urbanization means. What mortal means. Of course, she says. We all poop. End scene.
